Eight Days of Chic: Friday

Glamour said, “Like a white button-down, this is the shirt that goes with everything. Dark jeans? Yes. Silk satin pencil skirt? Yes, yes, yes!”

Friday:  A Chambray Shirt and Something Silky

Eight Days of Chic: Friday

If you ever look for a chambray shirt, they are pretty hard to find (on Polyvore, anyhow).  So are silk pencil skirts. I found both via Google.   But, anyway…
With the chambray top I found, I put the purple skirt for two reasons.  1) It was the most decent skirt I could find and 2) I really like the color purple!  With that, I knew I needed something white because of the shirt’s buttons, and I thought I’d throw in some totally adorable turquoise shoes.  To tie it all together,  I finished with the cluster of bracelets.

Eight Days of Chic: Thursday

Glamour said, “Love these pleated-front, not-so-typical cut offs in a deep indigo shade.  Paire them with a long, playful cardigan.  It’s all about balance.”

That did not describe how I took “Shorts and a fuzzy cardigan at all.  Instead, this is…

Thursday:  Shorts and a Fuzzy Cardigan

Eight Days of Chic: Thrusday

The shorts I liked had kind of a faded, summer time feel to them. I’m currently in love with the color blue, so I found a tank I liked in a nice shade and spent forever trying to find a fuzzy cardigan.  Then, I threw in some leopard print and brown hues in the form of shoes and earrings.

Eight Days of Chic: Wednesday

Glamour says, “Roll up your sleekest blue jeans, and add a sweet belt and your most outrageous shoes.”

Wednesday:  Cuffed Skinnies with Girly Details

Eight Days of Chic: Wednesday
I have a thing for England.  Actually, I have thing for the entirety of the United Kingdom.  Between my new favorite store (to dream about; I’m poor), the Beatles, and awesome accents… what’s not to love?
For today’s outfit, I chose the shoes first.  Then, I added some dark jeans and a dark blue shirt to keep everything monochromatic.  And then, I added light, neutral accessories, and viola.  🙂

Eight Days of Chic: Tuesday

Glamour says, “Try a structured denim top or jacket with a flirty, full skirt.”

Tuesday:  A Jacket and a Sexy Skirt

Eight Days of Chic: Tuesday

For this look, I decided to play with a lace skirt, much like one I actually do own.  With it, I put a really brightly colored shirt, and  pulled my red for shoes and my favorite color for the belt… mostly because I like putting white with lots of color.  Because of the goldish buttons on the jacket, I added some unique gold accessories (because elephants are my favorite).

Eight Days of Chic: Monday (and intro)

In Uncategorized on 22 July 2011 at 1:53 am

So, while I was browsing the August 2011 issue of Glamour Magazine, I came across an article I liked, called “Eight Days of Chic.”  Basically, it showed eight different outfits that all used denim in some fashion or other.  I liked it, so I thought I’d show you how I’d wear it. 🙂

For Monday, Glamour says, “Pair loose denim with one over-the-top item.”

Monday:  Baggies and a Statement Piece

Eight Days of Chic: Monday

I didn’t really like the idea of the jacket they used in their article, but I did find this headband that was.. well, different, to say in the least.  So, I picked that as my statement piece.  Then, I found some sweet loose-fitting capris, paired them with a loose turquoise top (because I love turquoise… especially with red).  I brought in the red with a cami, added some white TOMS and a white belt to go with the shirt.  And, just for fun, a gold coin necklace.  : )

How I Would Wear It: Newsboy Hat

I love hats.  I always have trouble putting outfits together with a hat, so when I saw this post on …love Maegan, I was quite excited!

How I Would Wear It: Newsboy Hat

I think the newsboy hat is better for fall than for summer, but I’ve always had a love for them, so I thought I’d mess around with a possible outfit.  I also wanted the hat to be casual, and being on vacation has had me favorite more comfortable outfits, so I’d pair an oversized v-neck (though this one is pretty slight) over a corset-type bandeau with a retro-feeling print.  I’d put on dark-denim skinny jeans (because they are a girl’s best friend!) and add converse and simple (but quirky) jewelry to make the outfit more “me.”  And, of course, wavy curls under a tweed newsboy hat would finish off the look. : )

How I Would Wear It: Snakeskin

Yet another inspiration via College Fashion.

How I Would Wear It: Snakeskin

I was thinking that a t-shirt would be fun to play with, since the jersey could be used otherwise for DIY projects when snakeskin is a thing of the past.  Cargo pants are not usually my pick, but I thought for a more dressed-up casual look they could work.  I liked the shoes paired with Jessica Simpson’s cargo pants, so I just stuck with them and added a leather cross-body bag and earrings to finish up the look.

Something Old, Something New

In Uncategorized on 2 July 2011 at 7:33 pm

I thought I’d gain some experience in Word Press (something new!).  It seems like the site that more professional type bloggers use (not that I’m near those ranks), but I just want the experience of a blog host other than blogger.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Basically, my blog is going to be about fashion.  (Oh, whoop-dee-doo, just another fashion blog–I know that that is what you are thinking.  Haha.)  Above all else, I need a place to let some of my creativity out… and so, I turn to the internet.  That’s what it’s for, anyway.  : )

Right now, I’m focusing on my old concept (something old!), which was taking popular trends and showing how I would wear them, because, let’s face it:  I’m an individual, and so the way I wear a trend will be different than other people!   Over time, I’ll add in new bits, but for now, this is it.

Enjoy. : )
